System Host Board Features Intel® Processor Options

The TML graphics-class system host board (SHB) from Trenton Technology (Gainesville, GA) uses the Intel® Core™ Duo, Intel Core™ Solo, and Intel Celeron® M processor options, providing a low-profile passive cooling solution and enabling small chassis designs.

The Intel Core Duo processor offers dual-core technology, a 667-MHz frontside bus, 2 MB of L2 cache, and Enhanced Intel Speed- Step® technology. The Intel 945G and Intel ICH7R component combination on the TML enables dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, eight USB 2.0 ports, and a 4-GB, dual-channel DDR2-667 memory interface. Other features include dual SATA2 drive capability supported by the Intel ICH7R, featuring Intel Matrix Storage Technology that directly supports RAID 0, 1, 5, and 10 implementations. PCI Express™ (PCIe) links designed into the TML support the high-speed PCIe interface methodology between the SHB and backplane defined in the PICMG 1.3 industry standard. The TML's graphics-class PCIe link configuration supports PCI Express graphics and video cards, including ADD2 cards. Other types of PCI Express cards, as well as 32-bit/33-MHz PCI option cards, are supported directly by the TML on a PICMG® 1.3-compatible backplane.

The TML also supports 64-bit PCI and PCI-X cards on backplanes with the appropriate PCI Express-to-PCI-X bridge chip technology. The front-side bus on the TML supports 533-MHz and 667-MHz processor options. Two DDR2 DIMM sockets have a maximum capacity of 4 GB. The dual-channel memory interface supports non-ECC PC2-3200, PC2-4200, or PC2- 5400 DIMMs. The x16 PCI Express and x4 links on edge connectors A and B support PCI Express video and graphics cards, ADD2 cards, and general-purpose option cards on a PICMG 1.3-compatible backplane. Standard TML configurations support two 10/100/1000Base- T Ethernet LAN ports and two USB 2.0 ports on the I/O bracket of the TML. An additional 10/100Base-T Ethernet port and two USB ports are routed to the SHB's edge connector C for optional use on a PICMG 1.3-compatible backplane. Two additional USB ports can be routed to the backplane. The TML supports the optional connector D, which provides a 32-bit/33-MHz PCI interface to the backplane to support legacy 32-bit/33-MHz PCI option card slots and PCIto- ISA bridge chips.
