Flat Panel PC
WinSystems (Arlington, TX) has introduced the PPC3-G-6.5, a 6.5" open frame, color, flat panel PC based on a PC/104-Plus single board computer (SBC) that operates from -20°C to +70°C. It includes a resistive touch screen integrated into an aluminum, corrosion-resistant chassis about 2" thick; the open frame chassis (without a front bezel) permits flexible mounting of the system for OEMs and integrators with content-rich applications. It is suitable for instrumentation, industrial automation, and control applications with tight system integration and minimal space requirements. The outdoor-use, 6.5" diagonal color TFT flat panel display features a resolution of 640 × 480 pixels, and a high luminance of 500 cd/m2 (nits) and uses two long-life CCFL lamps that are user-replaceable. The display has a contrast ratio of 600:1, while the screen offers an anti-reflective coating.
The PC/104-Plus SBC processor module includes the flat panel video controller, Ethernet port, two USB 2.0 ports, 4 COM channels, LPT, AC97 audio, 48 lines of digital I/O, and CompactFlash connector. PC/104 expansion modules can be added for additional I/O. It supports standard operating systems such as Windows® XPe and Linux plus ×86-based real time executives, utilities, and drivers.
