Optical Adhesive

epoxySet (Woonsocket, RI) offers the EPOXIBOND™ EB-107LP-2, clear epoxy designed for bonding metals, ceramic, glass and engineered plastics. This low viscosity, two-part epoxy has been certified to USP Class VI for biocompatibility. The excellent dielectric properties allow for use in circuits, underfills and as a small component potting compound offering electrical protection. This versatile system is used as an optical adhesive for bonding prisms, lens and fiber optics. It can be used in optical pathways as it has excellent transmission rates from 400 to 2500nm.

Radar Test Equipment

The performance of state-of-the-art AESA radar systems depends strongly on the performance of the individual transmit-receive-module (TRM) assembled in the antenna array. Typical TRM test cases can be covered with a single Rohde & Schwarz (Munich, Germany) network analyzer as a turnkey solution, such as the R&S ZNA. If higher performance such as the pulsed noise figure is required, the R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer is added to the setup. When combined with the integrated calibration routine, this simplifies the setup, ensuring full accuracy and high repeatability. The calibration routine in the R&S TS6 TRM test library is a special feature. It collects all the calibration requirements from the test and runs an optimized precise calibration. The support of multiport calibration units enables the efficient calibration of devices under test (DUTs) with many ports.

Programmable Welding Positioner

Pemamek Ltd. (Loimaa, Finland) unveiled its new welding positioner series, the PEMA Skymaster PRO. The new series expands the handling capabilities of previous Skymaster positioners with new intelligent PRO- software that enables pre-programming of work cycles and handling positions. Thanks to the visual software tool, the operator gets a better understanding of the overall production, improves manufacturing capacity, and saves time especially in serial production. The PRO dashboard can be managed with a mobile, tablet, or laptop device. The wireless connection between the welding positioner and digital device is based on WiFi. Currently, the PRO feature comes as a standard for Skymaster models with handling capacity from 750 kg up to 35,000 kg.

Rockwell Hardness Tester

Buehler (Lake Bluff, IL) introduced its newest Rockwell hardness tester. The Wilson RH2150 is available in two different sizes, with a vertical capacity of 10 and 14 inch (254 and 356 mm respectively). It is fully protected from outside influences with sheet metal casing and loadcell protection. Buehler has improved the Rockwell with a clamping device that is attached to the actuator, extended scales, crash protection and a new user interface. The intuitive user interface aligns with Buehler's DiaMet™ software – making it simple to learn and easy to use. The operator panel can be adjusted on the frame or taken off completely to put aside the machine if needed, and the adjustable LED workspace illumination highlights the test location to ensure clarity and full visibility.

Additive Manufacturing Machine

A new machine model was recently announced by MELD Manufacturing Corporation (Christiansburg, VA). The L3 model MELD machine has a build volume of 6.75 cubic feet (2.06 cubic meters) with a table size for fixturing parts that measures 51 inches by 23 inches (129.5 centimeters × 58.4 centimeters). The L3 complements the product line which includes the B8 model with a 3 cubic foot build volume and the K2 machine with an 82 cubic foot build volume. The openair operation of the additive manufacturing machine makes it unique in simplified requirements for material, usability, and operating costs. This simplicity extends to safety, only requiring standard manufacturing protective equipment.

Dynamometers with Oil Shear Load Brakes

Force Control (Fairfield, OH) dynamometers featuring Positorq® Oil Shear Load Brakes absorb extreme torque at very low speed (down to zero rpm), so that they can accurately capture data at these critical junctures.

Oil shear technology can provide instant load spikes and static lock-up of up to 3-times the continuous load rating.

High cycle counts (up to 300 torque changes per minute) allow tests with a hammering effect on the tested product.

The Force Control Industries Positorq load brakes utilizing Oil Shear Technology are available in a variety of sizes ranging from 50 lb. ft. (68 Nm) to 300,000 lb. ft. (406,700 nm) and can absorb up to 3000 thermal horsepower (2237 kw). Mountings vary from flange mount, to foot mounts, to shaft mount.
