RF and Microwave Power Amplifier Accessories

Pasternack (Irvine, CA) has released a new series of RF and microwave power amplifier accessories that includes heat sinks, heat sinks with cooling fans, and power control cable assemblies. Pasternack offers eight different heat sink models that feature finned extrusion profiles with large baseplate mounting surfaces and AC or DC power supply options for models that support integrated cooling fans.

Most models include thermal mounting gaskets for optimal thermal flow. The general purpose heat sink models (PE15C5013 and PE15C5013F) can be used for all Pasternack power amplifier models where a heat sink is recommended, typically 1 watt and greater. To support test and measurement applications, Pasternack offers four power control cable assemblies that are configured for select power amplifier models with D-sub connector interfaces.

Pulsed Avionics L-Band Pallet

Integra Technologies (El Segundo, CA) now offers a high power pulsed avionics L-band pallet. IGNP0912L1KW is a 50 Ohm matched GaN-based high power pulsed pallet amplifier for L-Band avionics systems operating over the instantaneous bandwidth of 0.960-1.215 GHz. This pallet amplifier supplies a minimum of 1000W of peak pulse power, under the conditions of 2.5ms pulse width and 20% duty cycle. This pallet amplifier is ideal for Class AB operation with excellent thermal stability.

IGNP0912L1KW has a gain of 12.0 dB, frequency of 0.1-1.0 GHz and a voltage of 28V. All devices are 100% screened for large signal RF parameters.

4-channel 200 MHz A/D with 32 DDCs

Pentek, Inc. (Upper Saddle River, NJ) recently introduced the newest member of the Jade™ family of high-performance data converter XMC modules based on the Xilinx Kintex UltraScale FPGA. The Model 71862 includes four 200 MHz, 16-bit A/D channels and a combination of 32 programmable multiband DDCs for both wideband and narrowband frequency monitoring.

The 71862 factory-installed functions include four A/D acquisition IP modules, each containing nine DDCs. In each module, the wideband DDC supports decimations from 2 to 32 for capturing signal bandwidths up to 80 MHz. The eight narrowband DDCs allow decimations up to 1024 for signal bandwidths down to 16 kHz. These two types of DDCs operating in parallel are ideal for applications that need to monitor a wide spectrum, but quickly tune to identified frequency bands of interest for further analysis.

CompactDAQ Chassis with TSN Ethernet

The cDAQ-9185 and cDAQ-9189 from National Instruments (Austin, TX) integrate time-based synchronization with TSN into the CompactDAQ platform to control the timing, synchronization, and data transfer between NI C Series I/O modules and an external host. The CompactDAQ Chassis features USB, Ethernet, or WiFi connectivity and comes in multiple slot counts to provide the right amount of I/O for various applications. You can use these models with a combination of C Series I/O modules to create a mix of analog I/O, digital I/O, and counter/timer measurements.

CompactDAQ Chassis can include multiple general-purpose counters/timers that can be accessed through an installed, hardware-timed digital C Series module for applications that involve quadrature encoders, PWM, event counting, pulse train generation, and period or frequency measurement. CompactDAQ Chassis also offer multiple timing engines, which allow you to run multiple hardware-timed operations simultaneously with independent rates for analog input.

FMC+ Carriers and Modules

VadaTech (Henderson, NV) recently announced the AMC583 dual FMC+ carrier and FMC250 ADC/DAC FMC+ module. By increasing the number of SERDES lanes available, FMC+ carriers and modules support higher I/O bandwidth, making improved use of the latest JESD204B-enabled signal conversion products.

The AMC583 is an FPGA Dual FMC+ Carrier with Kintex UltraScale™ XCKU115 and P2040. The double-module AMC features a large UltraScale™ FPGA coupled to two FMC+ sites and supported by an onboard quad-core P2040 processor. The XCKU115 FPGA has over 5,500 DSP slices and is supported by 8 GB of DDR4 (over two banks each 32-bits wide). The dual FMC+ sites on the AMC583 accept FMCs from VadaTech's extensive range of data acquisition, networking and RF units, and other third-party VITA-57.4 compliant modules.

The FMC250 utilizes dual AD9625 ADCs providing 12-bit conversion rates of up to 2.6 GSPS and a single DAC (AD9162 or AD9164) providing 16-bit conversion rates of up to 12 GSPS. The analog input, digital output, clock and trigger interfaces of the FMC250 are routed via SSMC connectors.
