Measurement Software

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence (North Kingstown, RI) has launched PC-DMIS 2017 R2, the latest edition of their popular measurement software. This is the second of two major releases scheduled for PC-DMIS in 2017, with continued service pack updates to ensure maximum reliability of the platform.

PC-DMIS 2017 R2 introduces Slideshow for INSPECT software, allowing users to create unlimited customizable layouts with inspection results populated during measurement. INSPECT software was first introduced with PC-DMIS 2017 R1 in January 2017 as a simple front-end for PC-DMIS Measurement Routines. The optional Slideshow tab (additional license required), can display multiple slides of dimensional and informational labels whenever users execute a measurement routine. The native mesh resolution is improved from import to visualization. PC-DMIS 2017 R2 makes it easier to apply a color map to the mesh data object and create annotation points, align mesh data objects to the CAD model or align a mesh to another mesh object. The Vision Live View now displays which features have already been programmed.

FPGA Accelerator Card

Nallatech (Camarillo, CA) recently introduced a new “520” FPGA accelerator card featuring Intel’s groundbreaking Stratix 10 FPGA technology. The OpenCL-programmable 520 is capable of single precision floating point performance of up to 10 TFLOPS per device, plus support for multiple 100G network ports. The 520 is a scalable compute node with optical I/O for creation of directly-coupled, dense FPGA clusters.

Key features of the 520 include: 16-lane PCIe Generation 3 card; four banks of DDR4 SDRAM x 72 bits; four QSFP28+ network ports that enable support for a range of serial I/O protocols and speeds up to 100G. Improved performance features provided by the Intel Stratix 10 FPGA include: 2X Core performance over previous gen FPGAs, up to 10 TFLOPS; four 100G QSFP Ethernet Ports; and up to 70% lower power consumption.

Rack Mount 3-Phase Pure Sinewave Inverters

Nova Electric (Bergenfield, NJ), a division of Technology Dynamics Inc., recently launched the NGLRK series of 3-phase high-power pure sinewave rack mounted inverters capable of delivering up to 7.2KW/9KVA. Standard outputs offered for this unit are 115/200V or 220/380V and frequencies of 50Hz, 60Hz, or 400Hz. The models in this series accept 24 VDC, 36 VDC, 48 VDC, 72 VDC, 120 VDC or 270 VDC.

The rack mount model configurations include 1U, 2U, 3U, and 5U. The NGLRK series inverters are intended for industrial and military applications where DC voltage needs to be converted to 50 Hz, 60 Hz or 400 Hz, 3Ø. The series contains EMI filtering but for MIL-STD-461 compliance, an external filter will be needed and is available optionally. The unit can be ruggedized optionally to meet the requirements of MIL-STD-810 for ground vehicle, below deck shipboard or inhabited airplane.

Ultra-Low Noise Pluggable PSUs

Originally developed as a custom solution for highly sensitive electronic measuring equipment designed to capture experimental ring accelerator data, the new Eplax 3U 7HP 19” pluggable PSU with output noise levels below 4 mV p-p is now available as a standard product through Verotec Inc. (Manchester, NH) for any high sensitivity application where ripples and spikes on the output voltage must be as low as possible.

The dual output AC/DC power supply unit is rated at 45 Watts, with outputs of +15 V/ 1A and +24 V/ 1.2A. A special filter network for the output rails reduces ripples and spikes to the absolute minimum without violating the unit’s slimline 7HP width. The noise voltage for all loads from idle to full load is lower than 4 mV p-p. Using the filtering technology developed for this design, ultra-low noise power supplies with other outputs can also be supplied.

Positioning and Heading Board

Hemisphere GNSS (Scottsdale, AZ) has announced the Vector Eclipse H328, the next offering in a line of new and refreshed, low-power, high-precision, positioning and heading OEM boards. The multi-frequency, multi-GNSS H328 is an all signals receiver board that includes Hemisphere’s new hardware platform and integrates Atlas® GNSS Global Correction Service.

The H328 offers true scalability with centimeter-level accuracy in either single- frequency mode or full performance multi-frequency, multi-GNSS, Atlas-capable mode that supports fast RTK initialization times over long distances. The H328 offers fast accuracy heading of better than 0.17 degrees at 0.5 m antenna separation and aiding gyroscope and tilt sensors for temporary GNSS outages. The 60 mm x 100 mm module with 24-pin and 16-pin headers is a drop- in upgrade for existing designs using this industry standard form factor.

Connectors and Adapters

Fairview Microwave Inc. (Allen, TX) has released 18 new 4.3-10 connectors and adapters with low-PIM performance of - 166 dBc typical and a maximum operating frequency of 6 GHz. Typical applications include wireless base stations, small cells, custom cable assemblies, antenna feeder cables, mobile communications systems and distributed antenna systems (DAS).

Fairview’s new 4.3-10 connectors and adapters deliver VSWR as low as 1.08:1 and low coupling torque. They feature silver-plated center contacts and a tri-metal finish on the body and outer conductors for corrosion resistance. These connectors and adapters are IP67-rated when mated for protection from dust and temporary moisture under immersion. They have an IEC 61169-54 compliant interface and provide a 30 percent reduction in footprint when compared to 7/16 DIN.
