5-Port and 8-Port Managed Gigabit Switch

MPL AG (Dättwil Switzerland)enhances its Network Switch product range with a 5-port & 8-port managed switch with compact enclosure. The new versatile 5-port &8-port MAGBES consists of various models and can be equipped with RJ45, M12, Fiber connectors, or even with lockable headers. The eight port comes either with RJ45 or M12 connectors (X-coded or D-coded), of which four ports can be fiber optic. On the 5-port version, two ports can be fiber optic.The enclosure comes with DIN-Rail or Flange mounting. All ports have status LEDs, indicating the activity and speed of each port and can be seen externally. The indication signals can also be accessed remotely.

A new feature is that the copper Ethernet ports are now available on lockable headers for stand-alone products. The input voltage range for the switch is from 5 - 36 VDC (optionally redundant power input, galvanic isolation or different power input ranges) and uses, under any condition, less than 8W (5-port switch less than 4W).

Form-in-Place Thermal Gap Filler

SARCON® SPG-20A from Fujipoly® (Carteret, NJ) is an easy to dispense, low-viscosity silicone compound that exhibits a thermal conductivity of 2.0 W/m°K and a thermal resistance of only 2.1°K•cm2/W. When applied between heat-generating components and a nearby heat sink or spreader, the form stable thermal material completely fills unwanted gaps as small as 0.08mm. This allows for more efficient transfer and dissipation of heat from the component and improved performance.

Due to its superior handling properties, SPG-20A is an excellent alternative to thermal grease. The form-in-place silicone material requires no heat curing, will not cause corrosion on metal surfaces, and maintains all initial properties across a wide temperature range (-40°C to +150°C).

DC Power Supply

The PWR-01 series from Kikusui Electronics (Yokohama, Japan) is a new wide-range benchtop DC power supply with models ranging from 400W, 800W and 1200W rated power output and maximum rated voltage up to 650V. The PWR-01 is equipped with a soft start function that limits the inrush current, minimizing any harmful effects on DUTs such as DC motors. The PWR-01 is also equipped with ergonomic power setting knobs allowing the operator to control voltage and current independently as well as front facing banana plugs designed for optimal safety and comfort.

The PWR-01 programmable internal memory feature lets the operator save custom sequences onto the device, eliminating the need to access a PC every time a test is conducted. Synchronized operation allows for more complex sequences over multiple channels for accurate testing of DC-DC converters, etc. LAN (LXI), USB, and RS232 interfaces are included as a standard so that the PWR can be operated in almost any testing environment via SCPI commands, LabView, Labwindows/CVI, etc.

High Insertion Force Ejector Handle

Pixus Technologies (Waterloo, Ontario) now offers an ejector/injector handle for very high insertion force systems. The long ergonomic handle is ideal for 6U OpenVPX applications.

The Pixus high insertion force Type VII design can handle up to 815N of pressure and features a die-cast zinc all-metal design. It can be used on standard panels or with a ½-HP offset for OpenVPX systems. Options for the Type VII handles include coding/keying, a micro-switch for live insertion, and an ESD pin. With the handles’ long design, there is also space for adding the customer's logo. Painting and silk-screening are optional. Ideal for the high connector insertion forces of 6U plug-in boards, the Type VII can also be used in 3U OpenVPX designs where minimal front I/O is required.

Pixus also offers short OpenVPX handles with a push-button and rugged metal claw. The company further provides faceplates, ESD clips, card guides, rails, and other board/enclosure components.

Multicore Single Board Computer

The new multicore SBC A25 from MEN Mikro Elektronik GmbH (Nuremberg, Germany) offers up to 16 independent CPU cores, a variety of I/O options and an FPGA-based VME-bus interface. The A25 is a powerful multicore VMEbus board, based on Intel's Xeon D-1500 server CPU. The board is available in versions with 4, 8 and 16 cores. The 32 GB DDR4 memory and the scalability of the offered standard models make the board a reliable partner.

The VMEbus interface is implemented as an FPGA-based open-source solution. The interfaces are also extremely versatile with two USB, three Gigabit Ethernet and two RS232 ports at the front. In addition, the A25 can be equipped with an XMC/PMC mezzanine card and a PCI Express Mini Card, providing additional front I/O for functions such as graphics, mass storage, or further Ethernet.
