The Indonesian Air Force recently selected Marvin Test Solutions’ MTS-206A Maverick Field Test Set and MTS-916-3 Modular Target Simulator to support testing of their AGM-65 (Maverick) missile and launcher systems, as part of an FMS (Foreign Military Sale) contract. Part of Marvin Test Solutions’ comprehensive suite of test solutions for both legacy and today’s precision-guided “smart” weapon systems, the MTS-206A and MTS-916 provide advanced testing capabilities to maintainers at the intermediate and depot levels.

Saft was recently selected by Aero Vodochody Aerospace, a leading designer and manufacturer of military and civilian aircraft, for engine starting and emergency backup batteries for the L-39NG jet trainer program. Saft has worked in partnership with Aero Vodochody to develop a new 44 Ah version of its ULM (Ultra Low Maintenance) battery with aerobatic capabilities. It’s not the first time Saft has worked with Aero Vodochody; Saft already supplies batteries for the L-159 and the existing L-39 platforms.

Essex Industries recently received an order from the United States Air Force for 500 Gallon LOX Trailers. Shipment of the 32 trailers was scheduled to begin in August and run through February of 2018. The USAF will deploy most of these units at domestic bases, as well as US bases in Oman, Japan, South Korea and Italy.

A team of engineers at AEDC are supporting the continued development and testing of the Towed Airborne Plume Simulator (TAPS), a simulator that can be towed behind aircraft for testing missile warning and infrared countermeasure systems. Most recently the AEDC TAPS team assisted the Air Force Research Laboratory with a mission in Australia.

In air navigation, a flight transponder (transmitter-responder) is a device that emits an identifying signal in response to an interrogating received signal. Transponders are used as Identification of Friend or Foe (IFF) systems in military aviation, and also in Air Traffic Control (ATC) Secondary Surveillance Radar (beacon radar) systems for general aviation and commercial aviation.

Leopard 2 Tank Retrofits

As part of a Polish modernization program for the Leopard 2 tank, Jenoptik was recently awarded contracts to supply 126 17-kilowatt auxiliary power units to the Polish company ZM Bumar Labedy S. A. The company Rheinmetall Defence will receive another seven of these units as well as ten electric turret and weapon stabilization systems.
