Free 32-bit MCU Compiler

Microchip Technology (Chandler, AZ) is offering a free C++ compiler with unlimited code generation. The MPLAB XC32++ compiler supports all of Microchip’s 32-bit PIC32 microcontrollers (MCUs), and enables designers to develop and reuse C++ projects by making all of Microchip’s C language extensions available in an environment that is compliant with the majority of C++98 and C++2003 ANSI standards. Additionally, the Free MPLAB XC32++ Compiler includes Dinkumware(R) standard C, C++, and template libraries. The Free version of the MPLAB XC32++ Compiler — available for download now at Microchip’s Web site — has no time or memory limits, and can be used in commercial applications.

Radio Amplifier

AR Modular RF (Bothell, WA) has received JITC certification for its KMW2030 tactical radio amplifier system when used with the Harris PRC-117G tactical radio. It has been previously certified for use with the PRC 117F and the PSC-5D. The AM/FMUHF/ VHF DAMA amplifier for signals in the 30- to 512-MHz frequency range features an optional external low-noise pre-amplifier for use in the UHF SatCom mode. Operation requires only MODE and POWER LEVEL selection. The amplifier provides transmit power on the UHF SatCom, UHF Line-of-Sight, and VHF LOS bands.

GPS Protector

Times Microwave (Wallingford, CT) offers the Times-Protect® LPGPX- 05-T high-performance lightning protector for RF communications networks. The DC pass design enables protection of GPS receivers requiring up to 5Vdc power to be supplied on the center pin for L1, L2, and L3 bands. While the RF path is DC blocked, the biased DC voltage protection circuit uses solid-state protection technology to provide surge performance. The bidirectional filter-based design exhibits return loss characteristics from 1000 to 2000 MHz. The white bronzeplated construction eliminates potential galvanic corrosion issues and provides long life in hostile environments. The weatherized housing is rated to IP65, allowing for outdoor installations.

(Chelms ford, MA) has introduced three power amplifier die products for microwave and millimeterwave radios, Ka-band VSAT, and military and space applications from 27.5 to 46.5 GHz. The HMC1014 is a four-stage GaAs pHEMT MMIC medium power amplifier die that operates between 33.5 and 46.5 GHz. It provides 21 dB of gain, 27.5 dBm of saturated output power, and 27% PAE (Power Added Efficiency) from a 6V supply.

Receiver/Monitor

Integrated Microwave Technologies (Mt. Olive, NJ) offers the PSRX6-D Portable Surveillance Receiver, a portable ruggedized, six-way COFDM (DVB-T compliant) diversity receiver/monitor. The unit displays COFDM video transmissions using a built-in internal 10" or 12" ultra-bright, daylight-readable display with a menu-driven interface. It has optional AES decryption capabilities that make it suited for applications ranging from public security monitoring to covert surveillance. The unit handles an array of video input and output formats, including composite, ASI, and HD-SDI. It consists of four built-in block down converters, two with internal antennas, and two for use with high-power external directional antennas.

Multilayer Bandpass Filter

TDK Corporation of America (Irving, TX) has introduced the DEA102450BT-1278A1 multilayer bandpass filter in size 1005 with dimensions of 1.0 x 0.5 x 0.37 mm. The filter is designed for the 2.4 GHz band, and is suitable for Bluetooth and wireless LAN implementation in smartphones, regular cell phones, and other mobile devices. It features an insertion loss of 2.5 dB, and attenuation of at least 25 dB (at 4.8 GHz to 5.0 GHz). It offers a rated power as high as 27 dBm. Incorporating thin-layer and micro-wiring technology, the filter incorporates a low-loss conductive material for the resonator. It is rated for an operating temperature range of -40 to +85 °C.

Attenuators

Narda Microwave-East, an L-3 Communications company (Hauppauge, NY), has introduced the Model 769A family of bidirectional coaxial fixed attenuators for general-purpose and test and measurement applications. They operate from DC to 6 GHz, and are available with attenuation values of 3, 6, 10, 20, and 30 dB. All models handle a maximum input power of 150 W average and 3 kW peak, have a maximum VSWR of 1.35:1 or less, weigh 3.3 pounds, and have Type-N female connectors. Models with 3, 6, and 10 dB of attenuation have maximum attenuation deviation of ±0.4 dB to 2 GHz, and ±0.75 dB to 6 GHz. The 20 and 30 dB models have maximum attenuation deviation of ±0.5 dB to 2 GHz, and ±1 dB to 6 GHz.

Push-On Connectors

Carlisle Interconnect Technologies (St. Augustine, FL) has announced the TMP® and WMP® series push-on connectors. The TMP family is designed to provide higher power handling capacity, similar to an SMA connector, for use in radar and other highpower RF and microwave systems. The TMP interface enables mode-free operation to 23 GHz, and is rated to handle above 200 Watts of power in the S-band. The WMP line is designed for high-density microwave packages where space is at a premium. The bullet adapter enables a stackable PCB height of more than 0.120”. The interface is specified to 65 GHz, but it can support operation to 100 GHz for millimeter-wave designs. Both connectors include PCB mount, microwave cable, and custom connector configurations.

XMC Module

Innovative Integration (Simi Valley, CA) has announced the new X6-250M that integrates digitizing with signal processing on a PMC/XMC IO module. The module has a powerful Xilinx Virtex 6 FPGA signal processing core, and high performance PCI Express/PCI host interface. Applications include software defined radio, RADAR receivers, and multi-channel data recorders. The X6-250M has eight simultaneously sampling A/D channels that sample at rates up to 310 MSPS (14-bit). The A/D have matched input delays and response and are supported by a programmable sample clock PLL and triggering that support multi-card synchronization for large scale systems. A Xilinx Virtex6 SX315T (LX240T and SX475T options) with 4 banks of 1GB DRAM provide a very high performance DSP core with over 2000 MACs (SX315T).

Serial/Deserializer Chipset

Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (Dallas, TX) has introduced the DS90UB913Q serializer and DS90UB914Q deserializer, the newest additions to its FPD-Link III automotive-grade chipset family. The SerDes chipset provides a seamless video and data interface to megapixel driver assist camera modules, with no software overhead and fewer wires. DS90UB913Q features a 25mm2 footprint, with 10-MHz to 100-MHz pixel clock and 10- and 12-bit pixel depth. DS90UB914Q’s integrated 2:1 multiplexer allows the ECU video processor to select content from two camera sources. The DS90UB913Q and DS90UB914Q can be combined with other automotive vision control building blocks, including the TMS320DM8148 (DM8148) automotive vision processor; LM22671 42-V, 500-mA SIMPLE SWITCHER® step-down voltage regulator; and LP38693 500-mA LDO regulator.
